Good news, on February 28, 2023 the City Council voted in support to designate Hung Sa Dahn a Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM)!

In 2021, Asian Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation (APIAHiP) 和澳博app下载网址一起准备了洛杉矶市历史文化纪念碑(HCM)的申请，并提名Hung Sa Dahn. Without this action, it is unlikely this structure would still be standing today. Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, Korean independence activist and prominent leader of the early Korean American community in the U.S., founded Hung Sa Dahn in San Francisco in 1913. 该组织的使命是为摆脱日本殖民统治的韩国独立运动(1910-1945)培养公民和政治领导能力。. 安哲秀的学说超越了独立的目标，通过民主主义和公民义务来倡导国家主权. Its membership was varied, consisting of day laborers, farmworkers, and shopkeepers, as well as ambassadors and diplomats. 

Hung Sa Dahn’s headquarters moved to Los Angeles when Ahn and his family moved there in 1914. It first operated out of the Ahn family home at 1411 West 4th Street, then by 1917 at 106 North Figueroa Street (neither building is extant).

USC students, both second-generation Korean Americans and international students from Korea, eventually joined the ranks as the organization matured. 이슈 개요:

한국독립운동가이고 초기 미주 한인사회의 중요한 지도자인 도산 안창호 선생은 1913년에 샌프란시스코에서 흥사단을 창립했다. 단체의 목적은 일본 식민지 시대(1910-1945) 때 한국독립운동을 이끌어갈 민주적, 정치적 지도력을 확보하기 위해서였다. 안 선생의 가르침은 독립이라는 목표를 넘어서 한국의 주권을 민주주의와 시민의 의무를 통해 찾는 것으로 승화시켰다. 회원들은 외교관은 물론, 일용 노동자, 농장 노동자, 상인 등 다양한 직종의 사람이었다.

흥사단 본부는 1914년 안 선생과 가족이 로스앤젤레스로 이주했을 때 함께 이전했다. 처음에는 안 선생 가족의 주거지인 1411 West 4th Street 이었고 1917년에는 106 North Figueroa Street 의 건물이 본부였다. (현재 두 건물 모두 없어졌다).

한인사회가 1920년대와 1930년대에 로스앤젤레스 남쪽인 USC 인근으로 확장되고 모이면서 흥사단의 회원수도 늘어났다. 흥사단이 성장하면서 한인 2세와 유학생들로 구성된 USC 재학생들이 가입했다. 안 선생의 진보적인 관점과 성 평등이 더 좋은 사회를 만든다는 신념에 따라 여성, 남성 모두 단체에 참여할 수 있었다. 

Los Angeles Conservancy는 2021년 5월에 지역사회 주민으로부터 흥사단 단소에 철거 허가증에 관한 공고가 붙어 있다는 연락을 받았다. 더 상세한 조사를 통해 단소의 새 주인인 Tripalink가 역사적 건물을 철거하고 co-living 아파트 프로젝트를 개발하려는 것을 알게 되었다.

2021년 6월에 Asian & 太平洋岛民美国历史保护(APIAHiP)와澳博app下载网址가함께소중하고역사적으로중한흥사단단소를사적지로지정하는신청서를제출했다. 2021년 7월 15일에 문화 유산 위원회(Cultural Heritage Commission)가 흥사단 사적지 지정을 고려하기로 투표로 결정했습니다.

2021년11월4일에문화유산위원회(文化遗产委员会)가흥사단단소를사적지로지정할것을시의회의기획토지관리(土地利用规划和管理)위원회에추천하였습니다. 그 공청회는 아직 일정이 잡히지 않았으나 잡히는데로 그 내용을 공지하겠습니다. 성원해 주셔서 감사합니다.
